Whats happened in Hale this week?
Well we didn’t get any snow this week at Creativesuit’s HQ here in Hale, we did have some excitement in the village when one of our famous footballers had his car nicked. Surprise Surprise it was another Liverpool Player, this time it was Jermaine Pennant. He was that shocked at having one of his supercars nicked that he posed outside his broken gates in his Pyjamas.

In other work related news we have been hammering through the websites to make sure everything gets completed before Christmas. As well as adding new features to old websites we have worked on in the past including a lovely log-in system for ACWA.
A Crisis in the Marketing department I dropped my Iphone in the car park. Grown man nearly in tears over an expensive gadget. Thank god for insurance, I just wish it didn’t take at least 21 days to sort out.

In other company related gubbins, Director Phil Dunster got snowed in because he lives in the middle of nowhere with just 2 sheep and a log fire for company. He managed to work remotely though, personally I would have claimed that the snow had broken the broadband connection and spent the day on a sledge. We all warmed up for our Company Xmas Party next Wednesday by listening to the Stereophonics so we don’t look like idiots at the Gig next week by only knowing one song about having a nice day.
The internet has been very very busy this week with two of the biggest companies going head to head with univeral log in style features.
Facebook Connect lets you use your Facebook ID and password to sign-in to third-party sites. It’s kind of like another Web-wide sign-on protocol called OpenID in that regard, but Facebook strikes me as having far greater potential of taking off on a large scale. Simply because your activity on other websites will feedback into your news on Facebook.
Where as over at Google they launched Friend Connect, which is is now available in beta to any webmaster looking to add a ‘dash of social’ to his or her site. This service lets webmasters add social features to their sites by simply copying and pasting a few snippets of code — no advanced coding or technical background required.” (Did they see any Facebook Connect banners going up yesterday, or was it just a happy coincidence?)
Google Friend Connect — which has been available as a “preview release” — lets you use your Google, Yahoo, AIM, or OpenID, and is a way of trying to get its OpenSocial platform adopted.
The two systems do different things, and they’re not direct rivals. Facebook Connect lets you link things to your social network on Facebook , while Google Friend Connect lets any web site add a social networking element. At the moment, it’s not clear whether either of them is worth getting worked up about. If we manage to get all this work done before Christmas, we might have a play with it and see if it can benefit any of our clients.
So anyway, onto my Friday round up of things I have found on the internet that deserves a link
This thing which is helpful if you want to find some mispellings for keywords that you are targeting on your website.
This thing which is a new tool for osx, which means you can now sync your Google Calendar with Ical. Not quite sure why i need this, but you know, i found it so i might as well use it. This means my Ical is now syncing with Facebook, iphone, Google, Daylite, and High Rise. Overkill you may think, but if I ever need to know when my wedding anniversary is. I’ve got it covered.
This thing Where a London reporter for the evening standard gets it totally worng when reviewing social networking phenomenon Twitter. I can’t actually belive this guy gets paid to write this nonsense.
This thing which shows you how to build an ipone dock out of a cornflakes box or something, Blue Peter eat your heart out. (Not literally)
And last but definatley not least: this thing about putting your tv on some rails so you can slide it around the lounge.
Right, must go. SEO to do and that.
